History

Years ago, before the Methow Valley was settled by the pioneers, the Native Americans used the area where present-day Cottonwood Cottage as a camping grounds for their summer hunting.

Just outside the cottage is a deep, circular fire pit. We have been told that it was a teepee site, and the perfectly circular hollow has been there far longer than Cottonwood Cottage.

In more recent history, the property was purchased in 1971. For twenty years, it served as a summer campground for family and friends. Then, in 1990, Bruce and Monica started building Cottonwood Cottage. They built it with the comfort of its guests always forefront in their mind. The open kitchen and living room concept is perfectly complemented by the cozy and comfortable bedrooms. The 6-foot cast iron bathtub (which incidentally took 6 men 2 hours to wrestle up the stairs!) presides over the upstairs bathroom, guaranteeing long, leisurely soaks.

Today, Cottonwood Cottage maintains its centuries-old tradition as a beautiful getaway spot. From hunting grounds, to family camping spot, to enchanted guest house, it has always been a place to rest, relax, and enjoy the stunning beauty of the magnificent North Cascades.
